Molly Kelly

Running for Governor

http://www.mollykelly.com

Former state senator Molly Kelly is running on an economic message and would fight to increase the minimum wage and make NH schools better all students. She has a strong record in the state senate voting to defend Planned Parenthood, helping to pass marriage equality, and fighting for public education. She also understands the implications of a conservative Supreme Court and says she will fight to protect reproductive rights and LGBTQ rights.

Steve Marchand

Running for Governor

https://www.stevemarchand.com

Former Portsmouth Mayor Steve Marchand is making a second run for the seat after being defeated in the Democratic primary in 2016. While Marchand's campaign website says that his primary goals are economic (and mostly focused on drawing business and entrepreneurs to the state), his positions on social issues are slightly more inspiring. He acknowledges that abortion rights are in peril since Justice Kennedy’s retirement and he vows to join a growing number of states in codifying the right to abortion at the state level, ensure public funding of abortion services and, eliminate existing restrictions on abortion. Most notably, Marchand has an entire page on his website outlining his commitment to transgender rights and protection, a rarity for any candidate. Marchand is also a strong proponent of marijuana legalization.

House District 1 (2 good options!)

Maura Sullivan

Running for House District 1

https://maurafornh.org/

Sullivan, who formerly worked in Obama’s administration, says she will prioritize creating a public option for health care (including Medicare for all), raising the minimum wage and providing paid family leave, increasing gun control, and creating universal pre-K access. She will also prioritize important women’s rights issues such as access to reproductive health care, fighting discrimination in the workplace, and taking action to prevent domestic violence.

Chris Pappas

Running for House District 1

https://www.chrispappas.org/

If elected, Pappas would be New Hampshire’s first openly gay member of Congress. His stated positions are similar to Sullivan, as he plans to prioritize health care access, reproductive rights, and fighting for an increased minimum wage. He also highlights his commitment to LGBTQ rights on his website and, if elected, “would support passage of the Equality Act, which will prohibit discrimination against LGBTQ individuals in employment, housing, and public accommodations in every corner of the United State, stand up to the Trump Administration’s endless attacks on the transgender community, support legislation to require anti-harassment policies on college campuses, and work to ban the dangerous practice of so-called conversion therapy for LGBTQ individuals.”
